Sharing my #FlipgridFever

As a former Kindergarten teacher, I know that germs are everywhere. The last thing I wanted to do was catch a fever. In my current role, there is a tool that I would love to share, watch spread, and catch on as a full-blown fever! Yes, I have #flipgridfever!

I know this isn't a new tool and I have used it for a little over a year now, but only with administrators and teachers. I want to see this tool in the hands of our students! So I planned an after-school training with teachers to show them how to use the tool and more importantly, how to use it effectively within a lesson. To entice them to join me, I always provide some sort of snack, but I also created Flipgrid recording "studios" based on an idea that I saw on Twitter:

Personally, I think they turned out very professional-looking and I cannot wait to share them with future Flipgrid trainees! (Look for them at the 2019 Revolutionizing Learning Conference in Royse City in July) Plus, check out the cool stickers and swag that Flipgrid sent me! Since I am a Flipgrid Certified Educator, I was able to secure some official swag to give out to to go with the recording studios. I love spoiling my teachers!
These educators not only won items from the swag table, they also left the session with ideas to implement Flipgrid into their lessons. We enjoyed a great discussion and shared ideas within the group. At the end of the session, they had to join my Grid and answer the question of how they were going to implement this new tool within the next month. The responses were great and really taught the teachers how to show their students how to use the tool!

Some of the session participants even went to Twitter to make sure that their awesome responses were shared for the world to hear! Thanks to Kortney Clayton for her #FlipgridFever! Check out her response HERE.

Want to make your own Flipgrid Recording Studios? You can purchase the cubes here and the foam tiles here on Amazon! (I actually used 2 different sizes of cubes and the linked cubes are larger and the foam fit better with minimal cutting. Plus, it's a larger size for Chromebooks.)
I'm thankful to Flipgrid for sharing customizable, pre-made training materials on their site! The Slides deck from my training session is linked on my Trainings page at www.techykilgore.com/trainings.html.  Check it out for a list of ideas on how to implement Flipgrid based on the grade level you teach!

Comment below and tell me how you are using Flipgrid in your classroom. I would love to hear your ideas!

Keeping it Techy,
Heather

Technology has been an amazing lately. To be honest with you, I have been struggling with the things that I invent lately. Well, it is to be expected since I am not an engineering graduate, or any for that matter. Technology is so amazing, I mean, just think about it, I am able to create things without even having a degree. Of course, I am not doing too well right now, but at least I am able to contribute to society.
